The Gig Economy: what is it?

So a new era is opening up before us that will, of course, have repercussions on our workspaces and the context in which work is done.

The what economy? “Gig”, the English word meaning “concert”, refers to the status of performing artistes who are paid for each show they do.

This means that the Gig Economy relates to a new kind of economy in which the main players are self-employed, flexible, temporary, freelance workers who are paid by the job, usually in the short-term, rather than on a monthly basis.
