{"id":26082,"date":"2020-04-30T10:00:51","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T10:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alternativ.be\/?p=26082"},"modified":"2020-06-04T07:45:30","modified_gmt":"2020-06-04T07:45:30","slug":"what-workers-told-us-about-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alternativ.be\/nl\/what-workers-told-us-about-collaboration\/","title":{"rendered":"What Workers Told Us About Collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-style-large\"><p>Collaboration is important to my work because\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-style-large\"><p>\u201cProblem solving is almost impossible without teamwork.\u201d<br> \u201cEveryone is in sync and understands what needs to be done.\u201d<br> \u201cTrust is built up.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>No matter where you are in the world, new research tells us the conditions needed for successful collaboration are universal. The Steelcase Active Collaboration Study 2019* spoke to more than 3,000 executives, managers and individual contributors in different size organizations in Australia, France, Germany, Japan, the U.S. and the U.K. Active collaboration is a new concept inspired by Steelcase research from the classroom\u2014discouraging passive activity for more active, engaged behaviors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was nearly unanimous that teamwork is crucial (97%) and helps generate\nbetter ideas (93%). The global findings revealed barriers workers face to\nsuccessful collaboration include lack of access to the right people, lack of\naccess to information, outdated technology and rampant distractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research also identified a significant gap between those who wanted\nto move while collaborating (72%) and those who could (53%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surprisingly, there weren\u2019t any significant differences in the study\nbased on age, and a deeper look into the results allows us to see what\norganizations should consider when they are thinking about how to Here\u2019s what people said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>64% \u2013 The team listened to each other<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Australian and U.S. employees rank this as especially important\n     (70%)<\/li><li>Individual contributors rank this as very important (67%)<\/li><li>People who worked at the largest organizations rank this as very\n     important (69%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>60% \u2013 The team had a shared purpose<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Australian employees rank this as especially important (66%)<\/li><li>Individual contributors, and managers and directors both rank this\n     as very important (61%)<\/li><li>The larger the organization, the more important this is considered\n     (63% for 10,000+ employees)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>52% \u2013 The right people were in the room<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Australian employees rank this as especially important (60%)<\/li><li>Individual contributors, and managers and directors both rank this\n     as very important (52%)<\/li><li>The larger the organization, the more important this is considered\n     (54% for 5,000+ employees)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>51% \u2013 Team members were able to build on each other\u2019s work<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Australian (61%) and U.S. employees (60%) rank this as especially\n     important<\/li><li>Executives (54%) and individual contributors (53%) find this very\n     important<\/li><li>Larger organizations consider this especially important (57% for\n     5,001-10,000 people, 56% for 10,000+ people)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>49% \u2013 Had access to all needed information<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>U.S. employees see this as especially important (56%)<\/li><li>Executives (48%) and managers and directors (47%) find this\n     especially important<\/li><li>People working in mid-size organizations find this especially\n     important (50% for 5,001 10,000 people)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>44% \u2013 The team was able to focus without distraction<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Japanese employees rank this lower than all other countries (25%)<\/li><li>If Japan is excluded, the global average rises to 48% bolstered by\n     Australia which finds this especially important (55%)<\/li><li>Executives find this more important than the other two employee\n     groups surveyed (52%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>43% \u2013 Team could display relevant information\/previous work<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Japanese employees rank this lower than all other countries (29%)<\/li><li>If Japan is excluded, the global average rises to 46% bolstered by\n class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>Active collaboration encourages people at work to become more\nphysically, mentally and emotionally engaged in idea generation.
